Notes for ERNEST CLEVE JONES: Through my kin, I have learned that Ernest was a safecracker! In the fall of 1948 Ernest C. Jones as an inmate in Huntsville Prison, killed a bully that intended on killing him. Ernest killed him by decapitation in self defense. He was also a veteran WW2. Ernest's S.S. # was 444-18-5677. It was issued in Oklahoma. Ernest had a very sad childhood and things never got better for the poor soul. Before Ernest died, he had a small cigar box with his memento's in it. I understand through kinfolk, that Ernest was an emotional person and cared dearly for family. In his small cigar box he had also carried my Uncle Jerry Burleson's phone number with him. When the two were younger they were not only first cousins once removed, but supposed friends. Before Ernest had died, he wanted our kin Betty Benton Lyle to have his cigar box because he knew she would take care of it, Betty still has that cigar box today with all his memento's enclosed... |
