He was killed in the Battle of the Wilderness,on May 5,1864.On his stone in Mt.Bethel Cemetery,Justus,PA,they have the date as May 6,1864.But the official notice to his widow stated that it was the 5th.It was only a two day battle,with so many lives lost.There is a story about him at this time on the Genealogical Society of Northeastern PA website:http://www.cfrobbins.com/grsnp/pl.htm
