12. JOHN⁴ BOND (JOHN³, WILLIAM², WILLIAM¹) was born April 1825 in New Liberty, Owen, KY ³¹, and died Unknown. He married (1) ELIZA SALE 1845 in KY. She was born 1826 in KY, and died Bef. 1879 in New Liberty, Owen, KY. He married (2) SARAH F STEWART 17 May 1879 in Owen, KY ³². She was born April 1839 in KY ³³, and died Unknown.

Notes for JOHN BOND:
      This is the second son of John Bond to be named John. It must be assumed that the first son had died prior to 1825 for the second son to have the same name. Like the other children of the elder John Bond and Johannah Holladay, no direct evidence (such as a will or list of children) links this man to the family, but rather a number of circumstances and bits of information indicate that he is their son. The clues are 1) John lived in Grant Co. three doors from Johannah, Warren and Allen Bond in 1850-1860 ; 2) He had land dealings in Grant Co. with Johannah Bond, Allen Bond and Rev. John Scott (who married the elder John Bond and Johannah) ; 3) John states in the 1900 census that his father and mother were born in Virginia, and that his father was a pensioner; 4) John named a son Allen A., the same name as another son of the elder John and Johannah, 5) John attested to Johannah Bond's pension application in 1853 .

      John was the first of the Bond clan to move to Grant Co. The move from New Liberty to western Grant Co., however, is only some 10-20 miles. He had purchased 50 acres from Rev. John Scott on 7 Mar 1846 - he was almost 21 years old - and by 1850 he was living there with a wife, Eliza and two children. The marriage record of John and Eliza has not been found, so her last name is unknown. She was born 1826/7, from her census entries.

      John and Eliza remained in Grant Co., taking over his mother Johannah's 50 acres in 1857 , another 40 acres from John Scott's executors in 1859 , and 10 1/2 acres from his brother Allen in 1860 . He remained in Grant Co through the 1870 census, then moved back to the Poplar Grove district of Owen Co. near his other family.

      John married Sarah F. Stewart on 17 May 1879 in Owen Co. Sarah was born Apr 1839 in Kentucky. Her father and mother were also born in Kentucky . couldnt be him because Elizabeth is still in the 1880 census.

Name: John appears in the 1850 Census near his mother in Grant Co.,
p. 303 with wife Elizabeth. In the 1860, he is stil in Grant while mother
moved back to Owen. In the 1880 soundex, he is John, but the regular 1880
looks like Jessie or Isper. In the 1880, his father is shown as being born in
Va, which is correct for John Bond.

John received 50 Ac on Stephens Cr in Grant Co. from his mother, Johanna in
1857 (Grant Deeds H p. 16). This is land that she, in turn, received from
John Scott in 1846 (Grant Co. Deeds F p. 61). Robert Bond also briefly owned
land in Grant Co. (Deeds D 53 and D 77).
When he re-located in Owen Co., it was in the Poplar Grove Precinct.

DOD: John remarried in 1879, although Eliza is still listed in the 1880
Soundex, her age is wrong - I guess that the census has the right age and wrong
name in 1880. The 1900 census definitely has this John and Sarah in it.

Obit, found among the effects of wife of Allen A. Bond: "Mrs. Mary Adkins, 92, Dies at Eagle Hill. Mrs. Mary Bond Adkins, daughter of John and Mary Sale Bond, and widow of James Adkins, died early Sunday, May 4, 1941, in her 93rd year at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Poland. 'Aunt Mollie', as she was known by all, leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Edward of Soldier's Home, Ill, and Leslie of Springfield, Ill; two grandchildren; three half-brothers, Allen Bond of Centralia, Ill., Jess Bond of Danville, Ill., and Dow Bond of the Eagle Hill neighborhood, and a half-sister, Mrs. Nora Gilbert of Owenton with whom whe had spent the past winter. She had been a faithful member of the Poplar Grove Baptist church for years. After a short service by Rev. J. A. Lee she was laid to rest Tuesday in the Poland cemetery. She will be sadly missed by the whole neighborhood."

13. WARREN C.⁴ BOND (JOHN³, WILLIAM², WILLIAM¹) was born 24 November 1832 in New Liberty, Owen, KY ³⁴, and died 10 August 1912 in Owen, KY. He married EMILY 1858 in KY. She was born 1846 in KY, and died 22 June 1912 in Owen, KY.

Notes for WARREN C. BOND:
      As one of the younger children, Warren's placement as a son of John and Johannah Bond is fairly certain, as he and his brother Allen can be found living with her as children in the 1850 census in Grant Co., KY .

      Warren married Emily or Emma approximately 1857. He was living in Grant Co. at the time, yet the marriage is not recorded there. Her last name is not known.

      By 1870, Warren and Emily had moved to the Owenton District, Owen Co., KY , where brother Beuford already lived. By 1900, the family is not in the census.

1910 census shows him living with grandson Price Bonds b. 1893/4. This Price married Mary Riley in 1919 (Carroll marriages 9, p. 109). Price is probably the son of the jailbird, Beuford Bond, and that's why he is living with his grandfather.
