Our special research interest at this time is in Mary's Great-grandfather, Horace Gordon Chase. He married Martha Larah Gardner July 23, 1871 in Terrell County, Georgia and they raised their family of 4 girls and 3 boys in nearby Quitman County. According to the information in the 1880 census, Horace was born in Rhode Island about 1846.
Where he was between his birth in 1846 and his marriage in 1871 is a mystery to us. We know he died 12 January 1898 in Clay County, Georgia. His wife died January 9, 1926 in Houston County, Alabama and is buried in the Baptist Cemetery in Kinsey, Alabama

If anyone has information about our mystery man, Horace Gordon Chase, and/or his parents we would be extremely grateful for your assistance.
