2. JOSEPH JAMES² NEAL (JOSEPH¹)² was born April 14, 1831 in Alabama, U.S.A.², and died May 30, 1902 in Hunt County, Texas, U.S.A.². He married MARTHA GLOVER GARRETT² September 13, 1855 in Reform, Callaway Co., Missouri, U.S.A.², daughter of ELIJAH GARRETT and MARTHA GLOVER. She was born March 12, 1837 in Portland, Callaway County, Missouri, U.S.A.², and died April 11, 1918 in Lone Oak, Hunt County,Texas, U.S.A.².

Obituary of Joseph J. Neal

A Good Man Gone

Last Friday evening the angel of death conveyed the spirit of J.J. Neal to the beyond where no one has ever returned. He had been quite feeble for a long time and his death was not unexpected. His remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery Saturday evening where a large number of friends took the last view of him. Elder Smith made a few appropriate remarks at the grave.
Mr. Neal had been at this place for a long time and everybody were his friends, and many hearts were made sad when the announcement was made that the grim monster of death had called him home.
He was born in Alabama in April 14, 1831 and at the age of two years, with his parents moved to Missouri, and in 1878 moved to Texas. In 1865 he joined the Christian church and lived a faithful member up to the time of his death. He was married to Miss Martha Garrett in 1855. Of this union there are five sons and one daughter living, and five sons and one daughter who preceded him.
