Notes for J
ASPER P. PILLOW:
[Jasper Pillew.FTW]

Jasper Pillow (possibly Pillew) is reported as an original Virginia settler in America, emigrating from England in 1740 and settling for a time in Manikentown Manakin is a Huguenot settlement of Virginia in Amelia County. In 1700-01 over three hundred French Huguenot refugees were settled by the colonial authorities on the south bank of the James River in King William Parish(ten thousand acres donated by King William III), Goochland County, Virginia. Manakin is about 15 miles west of Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia on Rt 6 (Patterson Avenue) & River Road. A bridge across the James River on River Road in the West-End of Richmond is called the Huguenot Bridge. American records furnish meager information on the original Jasper, and it is not known if he had children other than the three sons and if a wife accompanied him to America. It appears that he moved to Prince Edward County, Virginia in 1750. In 1777 he appears in Guilford County, North Carolina.[Lubbock.FTW]\\
