Oct 1867 in Independence County, AR Probate Record D page 390 he is apptd gdn of John H., Sarah T., George R., James F. and Mary E. Ballard minor heirs of William R. Ballard. This also seems to be about the same children. Gilford Pinkston adn of minor heirs pg 226 Aug 1871 (a) 274 Nov 1878 (a) "pension for heirs turned over to me by Z. Pinkston" " amount paid to Mother of minor heirs".

There was a D. K. Pinkston from Tishomingo County, MS a Private in Company G of the 4th AL Cav. in the Civil War. Don't know if he is a son of Zach or not.

When he and Mary Ballard were married he was listed as 51 and she at 37.
