I am Researching into the Pipe Family Tree. PIPE / MANSI/BARTLETT/BENNETT
The name 'Pipe' originated from a hamlet just outside Litchfield, Staffordshire called 'Pipe Hill', and it got its name because pipes supplied water to Litchfield from 'Pipe Hill'. The first recorded use of the name 'Pipe' is credited to a Richard Pipe born 1327. He was the first person to have the name 'Pipe' as a surname. Richard had his ancestors their surnames were 'De Pipe' which means "of". Richard had a son called John who moved to Hoxne in Suffolk, which it is where it is said that all the 'Pipes' are descended from.
I can trace my family bloodline back to Richard Pipe in 1327 and can say that my Grandfather Archibald Stanley Pipe was a Suffolk born Pipe born in Stradbroke in January 1887. I am in contact with a Mr Richard Pipe who still lives in Suffolk, a gentleman who without his help I would not have managed to achieve as much as I have.
