Christopher Bonnier Pitts of Massachusetts

Looking for more information on the following:
My grandfather, Howard Earl ("Doc") Pitts of Ohio (1989 -1952), was a veterinarian and a WW1 veteran; he married Denyse Dinin from France. His mother was Nancy Jane Pitts. I do not know who his father was.
He was raised by Nancy Jane's parents, Freeeman Pitts and Sarah Morgan. Hopefully, someone knows who his father was.
Another mystery is Morrison Pitts (1817-1857), Freeman's father. To date, I have been unable to find out who his parents were.
It is also suggested that Lear Smith (1818-1886), who married Morrison, was a full blooded Cherokee indian raised by a white family.
