Until her Mothers second marriage , Aninia, who was better known as Francis to family and friends, lived most of her life in and around Goreville IL. (Johnson Co.) She was the daughter of William Tripp, a farmer, born in IL. in 1828 and Sarah Jane May, born in 1827 in North Carolina. According to 1870 and 1880 Illinois census records, both of Sarahs parents were also born in North Carolina. Francis Tripp had at least one sister and two brothers that were born in Illinois. Mary, born in 1850, John, born in 1852 and Charles Washington, born in 1865.
Francis' Father William died or was divorced from Sarah Jane May between 1870 and 1873. Sarah remarried on April 7, 1873 in Johnson Co. IL. to a man named Joshua Powell. The 1880 census records that Joshua was a chair maker and that he was born in Tennessee in 1802. At the time of the 1880 census Joshua Powell, Sarah Jane May and her children from her first marriage to William Tripp are living in Dongola IL. where Sarah's daughter Francis met her first husband, Samuel Gideon Reedy.
Francis married her first husband, Samuel Gideon Reedy in Union Co. IL. on September 3, 1882. Francis and Samuel had two daughters. Sarah Melvina, born April 10, 1883 and Dolly born in December of 1885.
Francis was widowed between 1885 and 1888. She remarried to Michael Monroe Pool in Union Co. IL. on June 8, 1889. Michael was the son of Jacob Pool and Sally Walker. According to North Carolina marriage records, Jacob and Sally were married in Rowan North Carolina on October 28, 1828. Michael had at least three children from a previous marriage to a woman named Christina Price. They were James, Jacob and John. Michael and Francis had at least two sons of their own. They were Michael Monroe and Otha J. These children grew up around Mill Creek IL.
