Della Thomas (daughter of William Thomas and Mary Catherine Elkins) was born August 11, 1876 in Cannon Co. Tennessee (Woodbury), and died December 23, 1957 in Union Co. Il.. She married William Pitts on September 13, 1893 in Cannon Co. Tennesee, son of James Pitts and Emiline Spurlock.

Della Thomas Pitts, daughter of William H. and Cathryn Elkins Thomas, was born August 11, 1876 in Woodbury, Tenn., and passed away Monday afternoon, December 23, 1957 at the Boyd-Miller Nursing Home in Anna, Illinois., where she had been a patient for more than a year, at the age of 81 years, four months and twelve days. In 1892 she was united in marriage to William Pitts, of Tennessee and to this union 8 children were born, six of whom survive and two who preceded their Mother in death in infancy. After their marriage in Tennessee, Mr. and Mrs. Pitts moved with their family to Union County, ILL., where they spent the remainder of their lives. She was United in Christ in 1937 and lived a faithful and devoted life until her death. Surviving is her husband, William Pitts: one daughter, Mrs. Eva Dillow of Anna and five sons; Cecil, Clarence and Lynn, all of Anna, Wiley of Mounds, ILL., and George of Wolf Lake, ILL. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as numerous other relatives and many friends who are grieved by her passing. Funeral services were held at the Casper Church, north of Anna, at three o'clock Wednesday afternoon, December 25, 1957 conducted by the Rev. Oscar Sanders of Royalton ILL., with interment in Casper Cemetery.
