He is also survived by three brothers, Clarence Pitts of Anna, Wiley Pitts of Mounds and George Pitts of Wolf Lake; and by other relatives. Cecil's son James remembers his Dad as a jokester and prankster. Cecil was also very outspoken. If he had a strong opinion about a particular issue he usually told people exactly what he thought. Cecil used to say that he "might have ended up in Texas if he hadnt been afraid of that old Jack". He was reffering to a time when he was a very young man and his Uncle Thomas was having a donkey shipped to Texas by train. He ask Cecil to ride with the donkey and care for it. But Cecil was afraid of the animal. Cecil's nickname "Slick" was a reference to himself being bald when he was born. His other nickname "Lardy" was given to him because he was so thinly built. Friends would sarcastically say he was so fat that Lard was dripping off of him. He was also called Oscar. Cecil loved to talk about the past and probably knew more than most about his own family's history.
