Mike Poole was born in Alexander County, near Elco, IL., July 27, 1890, to Mike and Francis Trip Poole, and departed this life at 6;10 a.m. Saturday May 20, 1961, at the Union Co. Hospital in Anna, IL., at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 24 days. He was married in September, 1908 to May Simms, and to this Union three children were born. One son, Earl was killed in World War 2 in 1944. Mrs. Poole died February 22, 1922. He was married the second time to Miss. Edith Hamilton (Hamblin) and to this Union eight children were born. Two died in infancy. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church at Elco at the time of his death. He is survived by the following relatives: His wife, Edith Poole of Pulaski Co.; three sons, Edward Poole of Granite City, Illinois, Homer Poole of Vienna, IL., and Otha Poole of Madison IL.; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Johnson and Mrs. Zelma Daniels, both of Ullin, Mrs. Lucille Johnson of Lebanon Indiana, Mrs. Derotha Bowman of Granite City, IL., and Mrs. Shirley Modglin of Tamms IL.; 31 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 1961, at the Pentecostal Church in Elco, with the Pastor Rev. Frank Scierbaum, officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the St. Johns's cemetery near Dongola IL. The Ford Funeral Home of Dongola was in charge.
