Elijah Burnett was born January 09, 1866 in Kentucky, and died June 12, 1940 in Alexander County Illinois. He married Sarah Melvina Reedy on Abt. 1920 in Alexander Co. Illinois, daughter of Samuel Gideon Reedy and Aninia Francis Tripp.

Elishe (Elija) Burnett, age 74, passed away at the home of his son near Olive Branch Tuesday night. Mr. Burnett had been ill for some time. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Vick of Peoria, Mrs. Opal Renshaw of St. Louis and Miss Violet Burnett of Elco and two sons, Fred of Olive Branch with whom he made his home and John of Elco. Funeral services will be held at the Sandy Creek church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Jack Douglas officiating. Burial will be made in Hulen cemetery. Crain and Parker will be in charge of arrangements.
