Benjamin Spurlock, son of Monroe and Anna Spurlock was born in Woodbury,TN., on January 7, 1881 and passed away at his home in Anna, IL., on November 20, 1956 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 13 days. On August 20, 1902, he was united in marriage to Minnie Bell Kimbrell and to this Union 11 children were born. Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Minnie Bell of Anna, IL., two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Houghland of Bridgeport, IL., and Mrs. Lucille Forehand of Jonesboro, IL.; five sons, William of Dongola, David, Floyd and Paul of Anna and George of Elgin. He also leaves one brother, William Spurlock of Anna besides 17 grand children and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Spurlock was a member of the Pentecostal Church for a number of years and attended church regularly as long as his health permitted. He spent the greater part of his life in Union County, mostly farming. Funeral services were held at the Casper Church Thursday, November 22, 1956. Rev. Marion Hileman and Rev. Ogle Cook officiating. Interment was in the Casper Cemetery. Norris and Son were in charge of arrangements.
