Notes for James Thomas Elkins: Obituary-Anna Illinois newspaper 1974. Final rites held Wednesday for James Elkins, Sr. Funeral services for James Thomas Elkins Sr., 94, were held Wednesday, July 17 in the Pentecostal Church in Anna with the Rev Chas Carr and Bro. Shannon officiating. Mr Elkins died in Anna July 14 after a short illness. Mr Elkins had farmed in and around Union County all of his life until his retirement a few years ago. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Anna in many years. He is survived by his wife, Dovie,(Merriman) of Anna; three daughters, Mrs Lillie Peeler of Vally Park Mo., Mrs. Mildred Dunham of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Virginia Kelley of Anna; four sons, Rev Ralph Walker Elkins of Dowagiac, Mich., Rev. James Thomas Elkins of Hudson Wisc., Donald of Mystic, Conn and John of Anna; 17 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Flora Brimmer (nicknamed Diece) of Mc Alester, Okla. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery with Norris and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
