Effie Love Manus was born August 18, 1905 in Cannon Co. Tennessee (Woodbury), and died June 28, 1977 in Cannon Co. Tennessee (Woodbury). She married Charlie Pitts, son of James B. Pitts and Eliza Thomas.

Biography: Effie Love manus is the daughter of Ed and Fannie P. (Davis) manus. She was born August 18, 1905 on Parchcorn Road about two miles Northeast of Woodbury TN. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She served as a cook at the Leoni school and also the Good samariton Hospital for a time. She Used to make baskets and trade them for groceries. Back then, basket making was considered a lower occupation but now its considered a form of art and a distinguished occupation. Her only sister still made baskets. A basket that brought twenty five cents back then would bring twenty five dollars now. Effie would stain the baskets with Pokeberries. She was also great at making blackberry Jam and chicken and dumplings. She would grab a chicken by the neck and wring it until its head came off. Then she would dip it in a pot of boiling water and pluck the feathers. Effie was struck by a brain tumor in 1976. She was operated on in September and died the following year on June 28, 1977 at the Good Samariton Hospital. She is buried in the Leoni Cemetery.
