THE ORIGIN OF PLAMONDON'S IN NORTH AMERICA.
Philippe Plamondon was born in Lapeyrouse in the old French province of Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand in France, he might of served in the French army ,because he carried the surname "Dit Lafleur". He settled in and married (Marguerite Clement) in Laprairie,Quebec. He died in 1691 and only one of his five children carried on the Family name. His son, Pierre Plamondon married Marie-Charlotte Hamel and they had 15 children and from them the name Plamondon spread all over North America. So my fellow Plamondon's, Plumadon's, Plomondon's, Plemondon's, Plumadore's, Plamandon's, Plumondon's, Plamonden's were are all long lost cousin's. Pierre moved to Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec a small village near Quebec City and farmed the land.

INFORMATION ON A REVOLUTIONAY WAR SOLDIER.

During the American Revolutionary, when Generals Benedict Arnold and Montgomery tried to invade Canada, a number of French-Canadian joined the rebel cause. But when the Americans retreated back to the U.S., these new recruits had to follow for fear of being shot for treason to the british crown. They fought
on to the end of the revolution in the continental army. At the end of the war, they received land grants and some settled in and around the Plattsburg,NY area. A friend of mine found a Joseph Plomendon listed as a person who received Military Bounty Lands. He probably served in the 1rst or 2nd Canadian Regiment during the war. Many of these ex-soldiers sold their land and returned quietly home to Quebec a few years after the war. My problem is there are quite a few Joseph Plamondon living at the time, which one is the ex-soldier and where did he finally end up? Any information would be appreciated.
