I am researching the PLEISS family; Joseph, Max, Johann & William or Wilhelm. According to my findings, they lived near or in the Gelsenkirchen & seigburg, Germany areas. Joseph is the father of Max, Philip,Johann and William; he married Clara VON HUCHEN. The family had a bakery, workshop and post office in seigburg but lost everything in WW II. Max, Philip and Johann came to the United States about 1882 but there are not any manifests with this information. Max and Philip settled in the midwest near Omaha, Nebraska; Johann stayed in the New York area. William we are not sure about. The other PLEISS family I'm interested in and trying to link to Joseph is Ludwig J.'s. He was born in 1822 in Germany; his birthplace vould be Hamburg. From information I have received, Ludwig was one of four boys who left Hamburg in 1857 and came to the United States. Two of the boys names are unknown; but one was to have settled in Seattle, Washington; another in Pennsylvania. The third boy settled in Omaha, Nebraska; he was Al Pleiss. Ludwig was the fourth boy and settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. According to an 1890 census sheet filled out by Ludwig; he became a citizen in 1857. He also stated that he was a contractor. His wife Louisa wasd listed as a seamstress working for Mannheimer Brothers. Also listed was a son, Wilhelm as being born in Hamburg, Germany on October 26, 1856.

Also we are trying to gather history on the KRIEGLER side of my husband's family. His mother is Anna Kriegler Pleiss. Her parents were John KRIEGLER and Elizabeth ZWICKL Kriegler; both were from Austria, Hungary near the German border. They were married in Omaha, Nebraska, September 23, 1912. John died October 18, 1983 at the age of 95; Elizabeth died in 1997 at the age of 103. John's parents were Matthew KRIEGLER and Anna UNGER. Elizabeth's parents were Michael ZWICKL and Anna GYONCK. They had seven children. Any information on their ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Because we have Family Tree Maker in our computer; I'm willing to share any information I may have compiled that may Help with searches as well; so if anyone can help, I would definately appreciate it.
