Find Family

My name is Lori Plowman. My husband, Chad Plowman, and I are new at researching our geneology. Samual Sutton PLOWMAN, Sr. is Chad's great great great grandfather. We have just learned that he and his brother (brother's name is not known) came over from England on a ship. One was a cabin boy and the other stowed away. Samual ended up in Oklahoma but we don't know what happened to his brother. We have come to a halt at this point in our search on the PLOWMAN side. We have several other names that we are interested in finding out more about, too.
On Chad's side we are looking for MOORE, FREEMAN, BROOKS, and GURLEY. These names are from Chad's mother's side. They mainly lived in Central Texas. Also, it is rumored that Chad's maternal Grandmother is a decendant of Napoleon (his brother, actually).

My side of the family is more spread out, geographically. My maiden name is LONG, which I know to be of Irish origins. My father's father grew up in the Kansas and Oklahoma areas.

My father's mother was born in Chicago, but her family moved to Oklahoma after her father (CARTER) was killed while working with the company which dug out the Chicago River. His brother married my great grandmother and moved her and the children to Oklahoma.

Names on my father's side which I am searching for are LONG, CARTER, O'CONNALLY, DRYDEN and SCHUMACHER. I hope to get a copy of a family history that my cousin did a few years ago. My grandmother says that he has traced the CARTER's back to England and to John DRYDEN, an 18th Century English poet.

My mother is from the Lake Erie area of New York. Some of the names on her side are LOVELESS, RIVENBURG and WHITING (spelling? pronounced White-ing).
