The James Hamilton family emigrated from County DownIreland and arrived in Strabane Tp. Washington Co. PA ca 1790.The family consisted of the parents, four sons: John, Alexander,James and Hance. The 1800 census indicates there was alsoa daughter or daughter-in-law in the household. Hance died in 1813 at Ft. George, Upper Canada during thewar of 1812. John and Alexander stayed in Washington Co. andJames was missing after the 1830 census. Alexander marriedJane Caldwell, daughter of Robert Caldwell, about 1801; theywere my 2 great grandparents.
