I am researching the Poaps family name that originated from Germany. My roots are from John Adam Papst who married Elizabeth McWilliams. John Adam PAPST father was Johan Adam PABST who imigrated from Germany in 1753 he married Eva HAMM. This family settled in Schoharie, New York but they imigrated to the Osnabruck Center, Ontario area in 1775 at the outbreak of the American Revolution. There are different ways of spelling the surname. POAPS, POAPST, POPPS, PAPST, PABST, PAUPST, POPST, POPE etc. |
