The Daily News - Obituary March 18, 1905 MRS. CHARLES FIELD Aged Resident of Bergen Dies at Her Home After a Stroke of Apoplexy. BERGEN, March 18. -Mrs. Abigail J. Field died of apoplexy last night at her home on the Townline road, aged 75 years. She had long been an invalid, but her death was unexpected. Dr. R. M. Andrews was called to see her yesterday morning and prescribed for her. In the afternoon she felt better. At 6 o'clock she suffered a stroke of apoplexy, and at 10 o'clock she passed away. Mrs. Field was a daughter of Nat and Cynthia Spafford of the town of Byron, deceased, and she was born on June 11, 1829. She was married to Charles Field, November 20, 1865. Mrs. Field united with the Congregational church in this village, and while in health was a regular in her attendance on its services, the Sunday school and the meetings of the Ladies' Missionary Society. She was always ready to respond to calls for help in church work. Of an amiable disposition, gentle in manner and speech, she made friends of all with whom will be widely felt. There survive two daughters-Mrs. George W. Sackett, who occupies the homestead, and Mrs. Henry A. Arnold of LeRoy. The funeral will be held at the house on Monday at 2 p.m.
