Franz Josef Pohl and his wife Anna Maria (Leglar) Pohl emigrated from NeuStadl, Austria, departing from the Port of Bremen, Germany. They departed on October 3, 1855, and arrived at the Port of Galveston, TX on December 12, 1855. They brought their four children, Franz, Jr., Sara and Anna (twins) and Anton William. They settled in Fayette County, TX around Fayettville. They had one more child, Joseph Adolph before Anna died in 1859. Franz then took his second wife, Mariana Forster. They moved to the banks of the Navidad River, just south of Schulenburg, where they had and raised four children, William, Pauline, Henry and Anna. Mariana died in 1879 and Franz died in 1895 and is buried in St Rose of Lima Cemetery, in Schulenber, TX. Other surnames being researched are: Guinn, Winkler, Brod, Gebauer, Norville, Windel, Petter, Treptow, Dachdeken, Farenthold, Stelzig, Brockhaus, Berger, Winkler and Pilsner. |
