| I am interested in the stories of the Polhill families in the United States and Canada. I am aware of three early immigrations to North America. The first two were brothers: Nathaniel Polhill, the Ana-baptist who came to colonialize Savannah, Georgia, and Robert Polhill who entered at New York, both in 1733. And Samuel, the mid-19th century Illinois pioneer farmer whose sons followed the St. Lawrence seaway and westward wagons to spread the name throughout the Midwest, Far West and Canada. Perhaps the stories of these families can be linked with the stories of their English ancestors. I am also interested in the stories of the black Polhills, who acquired the surname during the period of slavery in the American South.
