Our family tree includes Martha Allen hung in the infamous Salem Witchcraft Trials and her husband, Thomas Carrier aka Morgan who may have acted as executioner of Charles I of England. I am the 5th great granddaughter of Mary Lincoln, aunt of President Lincoln, and my husband is the 2nd great grandson of of Tabitha Cumie Booth related to John Wilkes Booth (according to family tradition). There is a tradition that we are related to Noah Webster of dictionary fame; and that we have not researched as yet.

But most of our American ancestors were the farmers who formed the backbone of the democracy. Our Mayflower ancestors, James Chilton, Francis Cooke and Edward Fulton were here in 1620. Thomas Carrier was in Massachusetts by 1655 and Martha was born in Andover in 1659. The German Shaffers and Schnepps were in Virgina and Pennsylvania respectively by the 1750's. The Danish Schmidts emmigrated to Detroit in 1884, and the Pollard's arrived on Ellis Island from London in 1913.
