Bryan Henry SMITHSON was born in 1804 in Virginia and moved to Arkansas Territory around 1830. He married there in 1831 and raised his family in Washington County, Arkansas. His wife was Cynthia KINCAID, the daughter of Isabella ROGERS and Capt. David KINCAID. The children of Cynthia and Bryan Smithson are: William Dugan, Bryan Cole, Cyrene/Serena Eliza, James A., and Samuel. Bryan Smithson served as postmaster of Fayetteville, Arkansas, clerk of the circuit court, magistrate and sheriff. The notice of the death of Gen. Bryan H. Smithson was in the "Arkansas Gazette" on 11 Dec 1858. |
