Routon, a minister of the gospel" in and for sad Parish, proceeded at the residence of "Richard Doughty" said Parish, to celebrate a Marriage between "Micajah F. Pool" and "Miss Mary J. Doughty" of said Parish, present and consenting to said marriage. In Witness Whereof, I have caused the said parties to sign this act in presence of "L.L. Land, S. L. Baker, and L. M. (The following document was hand written and very hard to read) To the Honorable Owen Mayo Judge of the Eleventh District Court of Louisiana, holding secessions in and for the Parish of Catahoula The petition of Mary A. Doughty of your said Parish and surviving widow of the late Macajah Pool decd. ? shows that she is the surviving widow in community of her said decd. husband, and Natural Tutor of Alonzo & Richard L. Pool minor, children, ? of the marriage of you Petitioner with her said husband. That two applications have been made to your Honorable Court for the administration of her said husband Estate, one by Richard Doughty the father of your Petitioner and one in opposition thereto by Leonard Pool the father of the said decd. Your Petitioner ? that as widow and Tutrix aforesaid she is intitled in preference of everybody & of said applicants, to said administration. That one of said applicants, to wit, Rich Doughty is willing to yield his said preference__ Wherefore she respectfully opposes said applications & prays to be appointed and confirmed as administratrix of said Estate. & that said applications be rejected and for ? & general relief. Petitioner further prays that she be appointed, Provisional Administratrix of said Estate pending these ?___ She further prays That this opposition and application be notified to the adverse parties. Richard Doughty ELEVENTH DISTRICT COURT - STATE OF LOUISIANA Parish of Catahaoula Know all men by these presents, than we Mary A. Pool as Principal & R. Doughty As her security _______________ are held and firmly bound unto the Creditors, Heirs or legal representatives of Micajah Pool deceased, in the just and full sum of Two thousand and twelve _________ dollars and______cents, for the full and complete payment of which sum, we hereby bind ourselves and our heirs, executors or administrators, firmly by these Presents, this 12 day of Dec. A.D., 1860 THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that whereas, the above bounden M. A. Pool has been appointed administratix of the said Succession, then the above obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue. Pool do solemnly swear that I will well and faithfully discharge the trust reposed in me by my appointment as admx of the succession of Micajah Pool deceased, to the best of my knowledge and understanding, agreeable to law, so help me God. Probate Sale Succession of Micajah Pool In ? of and order of Sale to me directed From the Honorable the 11th District Court, for the Parish of Catahoula I will on Tuesday the 12th day of February 61, within the hours prescribed by law, at the door of the Courthouse in the town of Harrisonburg, Parish of Catahoula, offer for Sale at public auction, The following described property belonging to Said Succession to wit; The northwest 1/4 of northwest 1/4 Section Six, Township five, Range Seven east containing 43 60/100 acres- and the Northeast 1/4 of the North east fraction 1/4, Section One, township five, range Six east, containing 52 acres lying near the Black River - Also South Half of North west quarter, Section twenty nine, township ten, Range four east, containing 80 acres - and the North west 1/4 of South East quarter, Section twenty one, Township ten, range four east containing forty 3/100 acres - all of the above lands being situated in this parish. Also one Yoke of Oxen, Eight head of Cattle, two horses, and Farming utensils. Terms of Sale Cash, according to the appraisement in the inventory and in case the property fails to bring us appraised value in cash, then to be offered at same time and place for whatever it will bring on a credit of twelve months, purchaser to give notes bearing eight per cent per annum interest after maturity with approved personal security for the purchase made and a special mortgage on the land - Jan. 2 -61 D.M. Prichard Sheriff I the said Sheriff did cause the foregoing advertisement to be inserted in the "Independent" a newspaper published in the parish where it remained inserted and appeared at each successive issue for more than 30 days and I complied with all the legal formalities of the law. And on the said 12th day of February 1861 to the courthouse by my legal deputy Wm. M Tew who read in an audible voice the said advertisement and proclaimed the terms- each and every item of property was first offered for cash, and failed to sell, except the 8 head of Cattle which was bid off by B. S. Pool for fifty dollars 50/100 $50.50 Cash - I then offered the residue of the property on a credit of 12 months according to the terms and conditions expressed and set forth in the advertisement when - Mrs. M. A. Poole bought the two pieces of land on the Black River containing together 95 & 60/100 acres for five hundred dollars $500.00. Coldwell Pool She also(crossed out) the 40 3/100 acres for thirty five dollars. ($35.00) Leonard P. Pool bought the 80 acres for $51.00 - Peter B. Young bought the oxen for $25.00 F.M Allbritton " " bay horse for 25.00 A.W. Ford " " grey " " 53.00 F.M Allbritton " farming utensils 17.00 Making the whole amount of Sale Seven hundred and fifty six dollars 00/100 - And the said parties executed their severance notes for the Amounts of their respective bids and I have ? the purchaser of the Land to sign their names hereto in presence of and together with L.
