I am researching the David P. Pool (Pettypool) line from South Carolina to Louisiana. According to a book of public lands, Claims West of Pearl River, page 38, lists a David Pettypool’s time of settlement, in Louisiana as December 1804. His estate settlement and a petition, dated October 27, 1830, filed by a Richard Taylor for tutorship, is on file in the courthouse of East Feliciana Parish, Clinton, La.. It states “ David P. Pool lately departed this life in said parish having among other children, four minors Baxtor, Huldah, David, and Nancy.” “have no relations -- except their brothers Coldwell, Burrell, Leonard, Spencer, and Timothy Pool.” He and family members are also listed in Hephzibah Baptist Church Records in East Felicana. The brothers mentioned above and Baxtor are listed on the 1840 Census Catahoula Parish, La. He was also married to a Frankie (Taylor) Wright and was apppointed guardian to a Burrell and Langford Wright. Two of the minors and one of the brothers are said to have moved on to Texas. Spencer is listed on the 1850 Census of Jefferson County, Texas and Davd P. on 1880 Census of Henderson County, Texas, Baxtor is said to have been murdered in Houston County, Texas.

Addressing complaints that citizens of western Feliciana Parish found it difficult to travel during bad weather to the east, Louisiana separated the area into two parishes... East and West Feliciana. • My First Fish, at Aunt Alice's Camp, False River (299 KB)
Taken at Aunt Alice's Camp, better known as Mee-Maw, to the folks on False River, P.O. Jarreau, La., I never will forget her " cat head biscuits and fig preserves, the best in the land ". She loved to fish with catapala worms, and crickets, no fancy artifical baits, just cane pole and cork. Until I was about 20 years old, I didn't know that there was another fish in the lake other than a bream or white perch. Fried whole, bones and all, you picked out your own bones.no filets. A small sign above the kitchen sink in her house " Old fisherman never die they just smell that way." I slept on the screened back porch, with the waves of False River lapping at the shore, in a feather bed, you remember those, where everybody slept in the middle? Please don't ask about the sandels or the underwear on the rail.
