The Patterson portion of my research extends back to Robert P. Patterson of Tyrone County, Ireland who came to America in 1774, settled first in Virginia and later moved to Kentucky. He was a veteran of the French and Indian wars and war of 1812. The history of my families expands from Kentucky to Arkansas to Oklahoma and explodes in every direction from there.

The Pool(e) family goes even further back in history in the USA. I have not any information prior to the USA and don't know from whence they came. England? Ireland? The name could possibly have originally been Pettypool, but I am uncertain. The earliest for certain ancestor I have is of Samuel C. Pool(e), born in SC of John P. Pool(e). Family Lore is that John's father was also a Samuel, but that is also uncertain. John quite possibly went to SC from NC in the mid-1700s. Samuel C. left SC with other siblings and family members to MS on the opening of the Indian lands there and settled in Pontotoc County near Tupelo and Ellistown. Samuel continued living in Pontotoc County, MS but died in VanZandt County Texas while visiting his daughter (Narcissa Jones) there. He is buried at the Holly Springs Cemetery in VanZandt County. From Mississippi various family members went to Arkansas, Alabama and ????. Also later into Oklahoma and points mostly west to the Pacific settling mostly near Fresno during the early California years.
