| I am researching the Poore family in North Carolina and Tennessee. My great, great, great, grandfather, Jesse Poore (Pore, Poor) was born in North Carolina in 1770. He is listed as owning land in Sullivan County, Tennessee in 1807 and listed on the tax rolls in Claiborne County, Tennessee by 1830. He died in Claiborne County between 1856-1860. I have yet to determine his parents or place of birth in North Carolina. I am working on a family book which includes a good deal of information about Jesse and his family. My father was Ross Poore, Sr. born in Middlesboro, Kentucky in 1925, his father was Robert B. Poore, his father was William T. Poore , his mother was Elizabeth Jean Poore Hicks, all born in Claiborne County. Elizabeth was the daughter of Jesse, born in 1841. I will gladly share any information I have. I am also researching the Perkins family in Oneida County, New York. |
