| Our Family Tree stems from my parents: Alexander Benton Poole, Sr. and Sarah Avonelle McKeehan. You will find many generations of McKeehan and Poole Surnames and those related to us. Alexander Benton Poole, Sr. -Born 12 March, 1934 & Died 14 Oct 2003 Married to: Sarah Avonelle McKeehan -Born 20 Aug 1934 - LIVING They have 5 children, 4 living & 3 of which have children to total 5 living & 1 deceased grandchildren. Sarah A. McKeehan Poole's parents were: John Eason McKeehan, Sr. & Martha Frances Butler. They had 8 children together, but John also had 4 children from his first marriage to Maryanne Luvina Deese, who died within a few days of giving birth to the forth child who lived only a few days. John McKeehan's parents were Noah David McKeehan & Susan (Suzie) Causey & they had 3 Children. Martha Frances Butler McKeehan's parents were William Thomas Butler & Sarah Elizabeth Talley & they had 6 children, 5 that lived. To learn more, you'll have to see the tree & watch it grow! John McKeehan was around the Sylacauga, AL as well as Calhoun AL, Blount County AL - & After marrying Martha they moved for a period to Pittsylvania, VA before moving to Gaston County NC. After John's sudden death in 1942, Martha moved to LaGrange, GA to be closer to John's Brother, where she eventually remarried to Alexander Spear McDowell. They are buried at in the Hillview Annex Cemetery that is connected to the back side of Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA. Both of John's Brothers, George Britton McKeehan and David Albany McKeehan are buried there as well as Albany's wife, 2 Infants & a Toddler graves & his adult son Thomas McKeehan who died in 2003. His wife's parents are also buried in the same Family Plot. I can take the McKeehan family back to 1780 when Benjamin McKeehan married Mary Hickey in KY. From there, children grew up & traveled to TN, GA, AL, NC, VA and Even TX! Who knows what states I'll find in our history! Alexander Poole's parents were: Zelma Randolph Poole & Minnie Lee Higginbotham. Zelma's parents were Walker Harris Poole & Lillian Harris. Minnie Lee Higginbotham's parents were Robert Annie Higginbotham (Jr possibly) & Mary (Unknown Surname). The Poole/Higginbotham Research is new & ever-changing as I find more documentation. The Higginbotham family seems to have migrated into the US from Ireland through New Jersey as soon as 1850 or so. The Poole's are a harder trail to follow though. I have some very recent research that has to be more confirmed before posting. |
