| I am from the Porter line originating with the John Porter who came to Massachusetts about 1634. He first settled in Higham and then moved to Salem where he was apparently quite well-to-do. I found a lineage in the family tree index of someone from the midwest traced back to this same John; however, they missed a generation. If whoever worked up that tree would get in touch with me I would gladly give them a database of Porters and relatives in Maine and Massachusetts approximating some 600 entries. We, my sisters Cleora McCoy of Newburgh, Maine and Dorothy Richardson of West Point, Maine, have been unable to find in what ship the original John came here. If you happen to have that info I would appreciate it if you would get in touch with me. |
