Asa Bishop was a member of the House of Commons of North Carolina from North Carolina 1n 1797;
and was a State Senator from Carterette County from 1801- 1804. Asa and his wife with other members of his family came to Alabama from North Carolina in the year 1822 or 1823, locating near Double Creek in Marengo County. Asa was a planter in Pineville, Alabama in 1836.
