Warren L. Porter Ancestry Home Page

Over the past 25 years I have accumulated a vast amount of information on my father's ancestry, although I have not found the origin of the Porter family before finding them in Schoharie County, New York. The first individual I have ascertained to be a direct ancestor is William, born about 1780, marrying Hannah Wilcox in 1799 and having 9 children. I am descended from 2 of their children, namely Latney Day Porter and Amy Porter, wife of Evert Shadduck, also of Schoharie County. These two people moved to Sullivan County, PA in the early 1840's in what is now Shunk, Fox Township, but was originally part of Lycoming County, PA. I have recorded descendants from each of William's children, but put a great deal of time into gathering as many descendants from Latney and Amy as I could, finding them in nearly every state and in Canada. I have also researched the families of : LUCE, WILCOX, BROWN, SARGEANT, WRIGHT, SHATTUCK, RUMSEY, DOUD, AUSTIN, WOODWARD, DAY, ST. JOHN, PHELPS, CODDINGTON, GRAY, HALL, and ALLEN. Any information you may have would be appreciated and I have a great deal of background information on nearly all of these families. I have recorded nearly 50,000 individuals.
