      4. Horace Sheldon Potter, born Feb 6, 1762 in Woodbury, Connecticutt; died Abt. 1816 in Paris, NY, Oneida County. He was the son of 8. Phineas Potter and 9. Dorcas Hinman. He married 5. Mary Knowlton Nov 2, 1786 in Winchester, Connecticutt.

      5. Mary Knowlton, born Bef. Jul 7, 1749 (Source: (1) Notes of H. S. Sternberg (Sternburg?), state ca 1766, as her parents would have been in their 60's or 70's. If 1749 is correct, that makes her 15 years her husband's senior and becoming a mother in her late 30's, not to mention that her mother would have been bearing children for 40 years!, (2) FTW, states birth before July 7, 1749 .); died Abt. 1839 in Lee, NY, Oneida County. She was the daughter of 10. Thomas Knowlton and 11. Susannah Cone.

Private in Captain Well's Company, 3rd Regt., Connecticut line in Revolutionary War.
The 1800 Federal Census of Oneida County, NY, shows Sheldon Potter of Paris Town as being head of household, between 26 and 45 years old; this census also shows 1 female between 26 & 45 [his wife Mary, born 1766 or '67]; one female under 10 [daughter Mary born between 1790 & 1800]; 2 males 10 & [?] [Cyrus and Almon, born between 1784 and 1790]; 3 males under 10 [Abel, Sheldon and Horace, born between 1790 and 1800; William was born after 1800.

      7. Fanny Thankful Bigelow, born Apr 7, 1777 in Colchester, CT, New London Co.; died Jan 12, 1852 in Sinclairville, Town of Charlotte, Chautauqua Co., NY. She was the daughter of 14. Elisha Bigelow and 15. Thankful Beebe.
