Find Family
I am researching the names Potter, Love, Greep, Searle, Webster and Field from England, and Damhaut and Pirotton from Belgium.
I began researching my family history in late 1999. With the help of close and distant cousins in Canada, England and Belgium, I have gathered a wealth of information, and continue to do so.

Early in 2000 my research took me to Winnipeg, Manitoba where my grandparents are buried and where they lived a good part of their lives.
Later in the year I traveled to Belgium where I carried out research on my grandfather's family. I actually found the grave of my great-great grandfather, and saw where my grandfather was born, and where he went to school. I was even able to sleep in the house where my great-grandmother was born in 1867 ! I met so many distant relatives, and was surprised to find a few remaining first cousins of my grandfather. They remembered him very well, although he left Belgium with his family in 1913 and only made one return visit in 1963. While the Internet has made doing this kind of research much easier (my research would have been so much more difficult without the Internet), there is nothing like actually going to the homeland of your ancestors and seeing first hand where they lived and worked.

I am indebted to the following people for their assistance in obtaining information on my family: my cousin Michele Potter for supplying me with some wonderful information on my Potter ancestors from England, Francine Klein-Lamer in Belgium, a distant cousin on the Pirotton side who is as passionate about our family history as I am...my Belgian research would not have been possible without her assistance. I am also grateful for the assistance provided by Jean-Louis Sottiaux, Lorraine Sourisseau, James Harris, Charles Damhaut, Gilbert Delrée, and the late Madeleine Damhaut.

Un grand merci à ma petite-cousine Francine Klein-Lamer, ainsi qu'à Jean Louis Sottiaux, Charles Damhaut, Freddy Delrée, Gilbert Delrée et feue Madeleine Damhaut.
