MY FATHER'S LINE

The earliest known member of the Dixon family is Thomas. It appears that Thomas Dixon was born probably around the middle 1700s in Dublin, Ireland and died after 1816 in Carlisle, Indiana. He may have served under King George III, coming to America as a British soldier under Cornwallis. The story goes that he was taken prisoner three times. Last by George Washington at Yorktown, after which he became acquainted with Rebecca Hotchkiss and they were married near Philadelphia. The Dixon’s were to have had twelve children, two girls and 10 boys. Thomas and Rebecca are my 3rd great grandparents.

Thomas Marion Burns, my 2nd great-grandfather, is the earliest know member of the Burns family. He married Susannah Fox, April 4, 1833 in Marion County, Indiana. Susannah Fox Burns’ second marriage, September 5, 1847, Andrew County, Missouri, was to Raphael Dixon, son of Thomas and Rebecca Hotchkiss Dixon. Also, making this Raphael Dixon’s second marriage. Later William M. Dixon, son of Raphael and Lucinda Copple Dixon married Sarah Jane Burns, daughter of Thomas Marion and Susannah Fox Burns. Making William M. Dixon and Sarah Jane Burns step brother and sister.

As for the Mallory line, the earliest known ancestor appears to be John Mallory, born 1474. Rebecca Hotchkiss Dixon was the 6th great granddaughter of John Mallory. John Mallory is my 11th great grandfather.

The earliest known member of the Copple line appears to be Nicholas Copple (my 4th great grandfather) born about 1732, probably in Germany. Some believe Michael Copple is the father of Nicholas, however, I have not seen any proof of this. If someone can prove that Michael is indeed the father of Nicholas, please let me know. The Copples, or their descendants, have been located in North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Canada. Several Dixons married into the Copple family. My 2nd great grandfather, Raphael Dixon married Lucinda Copple.

The Fairchilds, another family line, settled in Connecticut. John Fairchild (my 4th great grandfather) emigrated from England. After the Wyoming Massacre, in 1778, they moved to Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

MY MOTHER'S LINE

George Boone, my 9th great-grandfather, the earlies known member of the Boone line, appears to have been born about 1600 in England and never left England. George Boone, was the great great grandfather of the famous Daniel Boone making him also the great great grandfather of my ancestor Sarah Boone, Daniel’s sister. I am the 9th great granddaughter of George Boone.

The Poston family's earliest know member, is my 6th great grandfather, John Poston, born 1685 in England and came to Maryland. It is believed that he may have married Margaret Baldridge, daughter of William and Janette Holmes Baldridge. Numerous members of the Poston family served in the Revolutionary War.

Melchoir Drollinger, my 9th great grandfather, the earliest known member of the Drollinger line was born 1572 in Dietlingen, Baden, Germany and died there in 1663. Phillip, the first of this line to be born in America, was born May 1, 1762 in Pennsneck Salem, New Jersey and died June 15, 1832 in Fountain County, Indiana.
