Dorothy Lucile Gobeli

Dorothy Lucile Gobeli, 82, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1998 at the home of her daughter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Randy Scheil officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Dorothy Lucile Gobeli was born Jan. 12, 1916 in Green Mountain, Iowa, daughter of Charley A. and Minnie Vernal (Randall) Hill. She married Albert Phillip Gobeli on Sept. 29, 1936 in Clear Lake.

Dorothy grew up in Green Mountain and throughout the years worked as a nurses aid. She and her husband farmed near Thornton, Iowa, for 14 years and then farmed north of Clear Lake for 42 years until retiring and moving into Clear Lake in 1991.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting and baking. She was an active member of Evangelical Free Church, where she helped cook for Senior Citizens.

She is survived by one son, DeLon R. Gobeli, Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Marlys Law and her husband, Jerry, Cedar Rapids, and Marcella Manyik and her husband, Earl, LaJunta, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Hill, and his wife, Ruth, Clear Lake; three sisters-in-law, Merridy Hill, Mason City, Charlotte Hill, Ventura, Iowa, and Madeline Hill, Waterloo, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Albert DeLoss Gobeli; two grandsons; and three brothers.
