Robert
J. Hill
Robert J. (Bob) Hill, 66, of Ventura,
Iowa, died Tuesday,
May 9,
1995, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus,
Mason
City, Iowa. Funeral services were held
Saturday, May 13,
at the
Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Larry Yeoman
officiating. Military honors were given by the Clear Lake
V.F.W.
Interment
will be at a later date. The family
suggests memorials
to the
Robert J. Hill memorial fund.
Bob was
born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on July 7, 1928, the son of
Charlie
Hill and Vernal Hill (nee) Randall. He
attended school
in
Clear Lake and Ventura. He worked on farms and did odd jobs in
the
Clear Lake area until he entered the Navy during the Korean War.
On July
14, 1951, he married Charlotte Hayes in San Diego, Calif.,
while
he was in the service. They moved back
to Clear Lake in
May
1952 and Ventura in November 1956. Bob
worked for
Northern
Natural Gas until his retirement in May 1984.
He loved
his
horses and showed horses for many years, and also did sign
painting. Bob loved grilling out with the family, his
many friends,
and
most of all his grandchildren. He was a
member of the Clear Lake
V.F.W.
He is
survived by his wife, Charlotte Hill, Ventura; one son
T. Sgt.
Tim Hill and his wife, Linda, Oxford, England, and
their
daughter, Amy Louise Hill; one daughter, Becky Bergan
and her
husband, Larry, Hanlontown, Iowa, and their two sons,
Alex
and Jacob Bergan; two brothers, Richard Hill and his wife,
Ruth,
Clear Lake, and George Hill and his wife, Merridy,
Mason
City; one sister, Dorothy Gobeli, Clear Lake; a
sister-in-law,
Madeline Hill, Waterloo, Iowa; many nieces
and
nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earl Hill.
Organist
Carolyn Nicholas accompanied soloist Pastor Larry Yeoman.
