I have Henry in Lisbon Juneau WI on the 1870 Census Schedule 1 roll 1732 family #18:
Henry age 45 in NY widowed
Andrew age 18 in WI
George age 15 in WI
Phebe Age 12 in Wi
Freeman Age 10 in WI
Volney Age 8 in WI
Frank Age 3 in WI
Martha b. Oct 1869 in IA
************************************************************

Rebecca is recorded in the mortality schedule 2 for 1870, since she died during the year end 1 Jun, 1870  line 328
Holmes, Rebecca Age 43 born in VT died May, 1870.
Cause of death dropsy in the bowels.
**************************************************************
In 1880 Town of Lisbon Census T9-1431 v13 line 231 is the first appearance of Emma:

Henry P. Age 55 b NY
Emma Age 28 b OH
Volney E. Age 19 b WI
Frank S. Age 14 b WI
Martha D. Age 11 b IA
Winfield Age 9 b WI
Henry P. Age 7 b WI
Elmer A. Age 2 b WI

*************************************************************

In the 1875 WI state census of Juneau County,
H.P. Holmes   6 males and 3 females.

*************************************************************
hope this helps.  The 1860 census had Anna and Volney living with them.  I don't know for sure, but I'll bet Rebecca and Anna Carrier are buried together somewhere in WI.  I tried to find a marker in the cemetery in New Lisbon, but no luck. Not even in the caretakers plot layout for that cemetery... Bob Wolff

1850 Federal Census for the Town of Wausau, Marathon County, WI  Roll 462
1850 P4  and shows
1  Henry Holmes age 26 yrs , Male, Laborer, born in NY
2  Rebecca Holmes age 23 yrs, Female, born in VT
3  Lucy Jane Holmes age 1/12 yr, Female, born in WI
They were listed as living in a hotel

I believe that the census was taken the 17th of September in that year.

The 1880 Federal Census for the Town of Lisbon, Juneau County, WI   T9-1431
V13
line 231 provides much more information about Henry P. Holmes where he was a
Farmer. His Father was born in VT and his mother was born in NY.  Rebecca had
died in 1870 and Henry was now married to Emma (Van Hoosen) born in Ohio age
28  Her parents were both born in NY.  The children living with them at that
time were:
Volney E. age 19 born in WI
Frank S. age 14 born in IA
Martha D. age 11 born in IA
Winfield age 9 born in WI
Henry P. age 7 born in WI
Elmer A. age 2 born in WI

The 1875 WI State Census for Juneau lists just H.P. Holmes 6 males and 3
females.

I hope that this is all correct, it probably should be verified with hard
copy of each of the census records.  I copied this down in the first trip to
Madison Wisconsin Historical Society. Bob Wolff

I would like to thank the researchers and transcribers in Juneau County, Wisconsin for their transcription of many years of the Juneau County Census, of special note is Jackie Hufschmid, the Juneau County, WI Home page Coordinator. Take the time to visit these pages. They are extremely well done. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wijuneau/

I would like to thank June Ubben for providing me with information gathered at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. I am sad to say we lost June to her battle with Breast Cancer. Her fellow genealogists will never forget her contributions.

I would like to thank Bob Wolff and Daniel Holmes for their help with the Holmes family Census Records.
