I am actively working three lines: Powers, Evans, and Weakley. My Powers data is mostly from my own research. It goes back to Valentine Powers, living Wythe Co., VA 1810, in Montgomery Co., TN 1820. My Evans data is from research of several persons, including much of my own. It goes back to Jessee Evans, who bought government land in Lauderdale Co., AL 1819. Am interested in finding earlier data on Jessee; dates, family, where he came from to AL, etc. My connection to the Evans family is through my mother, Claudie Mai Evans, a lady of the highest quality and gentlest disposition. My primary Weakley source is Samuel Anderson Weakley's book "The Southern Virginia Weakley Families and Their Descendants" of which I am blessed to have a copy. I am entering his data in the computer. He and his wife did a marvelous piece of work, all by hand, covering seven generations from immigration to America. I am in the seventh generation, and I have added some entries down to the tenth generation. My connection to the Weakley family is through my paternal grandmother, who died too young for me to know her, to my great disappointment. I am happy to respond to inquiries, and I welcome additional data to add to the genealogy.
