Andy Daugherty, a highly respected citizen of Big Cedar Creek, three miles northeast of Lebanon, died Thursday night of last week in his 83rd year. He was a brother of Mrs. J.W. Bausell, of Lebanon. In 1861 the deceased enlisted in Company A, 16th Viriginia Cavalry and served until the close of the war. He was in many hot fights and was a loyal warrior. As a citizen he measured up to the requirements. Eight children. Mrs. Wm Nash, Mrs. Ben Jessee, Mrs. Bettie Howard, Mrs. Wm. Jessee, Mrs. H.L. Branson, George and Charlie Daugherty survive. Towson Daugherty, a brother of the deceased, was one of the boys who marched into the valley of death at Gettysburg, falling on the field before a raking and murderous cannonade and musketry fire from the entrenched enemy. The burial took place Friday in the Daugherty graveyard where lies the dust of his parents, Ezekiel and Mary Daugherty, and one brother, James Daugherty. Mrs. J.W. Bausell, of this place is the only survivor of the Daugherty family, two sisters, Mrs. D.O. Clark and Mrs. Ruth Whitt having died a short time ago.
