Notes for Philip Power , Sr.:
First generation immigrant from Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Carrick-on-Suir is 30 km up-river from the port of Waterford, Philip's likely point of embarcation, and borders on County Waterford.

Family tradition is that he came to Newfoundland in 1811 with two brothers and a sister, all of whom settled in Placentia Bay. Philip himself first settled in Burin, on the western side of the bay.

Cause of Death: Killed while launching a boat.

Notes for ? Sheehan:
First generation immigrant from Ireland. After the untimely death of her husband Philip, Mrs. Power married a Mr. Fogarthy. Although the year of her husband's death is not known, indications are that the accident happened before 1940.

She moved to Oderin, Placentia Bay with Mr. Fogarthy. Her sons Philip and Patrick also made the move, which may indicate they were still under her care at the time. Oderin is an island at the head of Placentia Bay, located roughly 14 km from Petit Forte, the nearest mainland community.
