Josephine was born March 26, 1866 at Forsythe, Missouri. There is some discrepancy about her date of birth. The tombstone in the Galatia cemetery reads March 26, 1857, her death certificate states date of birth as 3-26-1856. But the 1880 Marion County census shows her living in the house with her father Elisha Henderson and mother Sarah and her age is given as 14 years old. That would make her date of birth as 1866 and I feel this is a correct assumption. Otherwise, her first child would have been born when she was 30 years old and her last child would have been born when she was 55 years old. So the 1866 makes more sense.
On the same Marion County census, it lists her place of birth as Arkansas. Not Missouri as everyone else says. It also lists her mother's place of birth as Arkansas and her father's as Kentucky. Her maternal grandparents were born in Tennessee.
Josephine was married three times that we know of, her second husband was Frank Gloden whom she married on March 5, 1915. She was also married to our great grandfather, John Wood, although we have not been able to find any marriage license to support this. My mother, Nova Honeycutt, has told us this story all our lives, how her Grandpa married "Grannie Josie" and how happy she was because she loved her Grannie Josie so much. She was about 4 or 5 years old at the time. Grannie Josie was so much fun that all the kids loved her. Mom always talks about the way Grannie Josie could dance, she was so light on her feet and she loved to dance. Grannie Myrtle, however, was not pleased that her Papa had married "that woman"!
