10. ARTHUR2 PRESTON (MOSES1, PHILLIPA, GEORGEB, GEORGEC, GEORGED) was born 1806 in Floyd Co., KY, and died July 1884 in Graves Shoal, Lawrence Co., KY. He married (1) NANCY MILLER October 26, 1828 in Floyd Co., KY, daughter of ROBERT MILLER and LEVINA BURGESS. She was born 1808 in Floyd Co., KY, and died January 23, 1852 in Graves Shoal, Lawrence Co., KY. He married (2) SARAH A. PEERY February 07, 1854 in Johnson Co., KY, daughter of GEORGE PEERY and NANCY BREWSTER. She was born 1828 in Virginia, and died 1881 in Graves Shoal, Lawrence Co., KY.

Per The Big Sandy Valley by William Ely, Page 74, written in 1887:
Arthur, the sixth son (of Moses), married Nancy Miller, and first settled on Rock Castle, but soon after moved to the Tygart Valley, in Greenup County. After remaining a few years in Greenup County, he came back to the Sandy River, and settled on the farm, where he died, at Graves' Shoal. He was known as a model farmer and stock-raiser, and prospered in business. His first wife died in 1852. He afterwards married Sarah Peery, daughter of David Peery, of Virginia. She lived until 1881, and then passed to the better land. He died in 1884, leaving a host of descendants, who are not unworthy of their ancestry.

Per Big Sandy News, Nov. 6, 1884; Lawrence Co. Index Bygone Bylines by Jackson & Meek, 1996: Rev. Zephaniah Meek will preach the funeral of old Uncle Arthur Preston and wife, of Riverside, right across the river from Richardson on next Sunday. Mr. Preston was born 1806 and died July 1883 in his 78th year. His wife was born in 1828 and died 1881. (Per: Big Sandy News, Nov. 6, 1884; Lawrence Co. She was born March 10, 1822 in Lawrence Co., KY, and died January 14, 1904 in Lawrence Co., KY.

Notes for JOHN PRESTON:
Per The Big Sandy Valley by William Ely, Page 74, written in 1887: John, the fourth son (of Moses), married Kizzie Fitzpatrick. She still survives. They raised a large family of sons and one daughter.

Note: Ely states that John is the fourth son, but researchers for this book have found him to be the sixth and youngest son of Moses Preston.

Marriage Record Bk 2, pp 6 Lawrence Co. Clerk's Office: "I John Borders a Minister of the Gospel in the Baptist Church herby certify that I did on the 24th day of October 1842 join together in holy matrimony John Preston to Miss Kishiah Fitzpatrick. Witness my and this 27th day of Oct. 1842.
