Sarah is listed as the daughter of Henry and Betty in "My Ancestors Our Ancestors Your Ancestors Revised Edition 1998," by Robert Polley and in the "Early Families of Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky by William C. Kozee". Besides the marriage record in 1843 which gives name Sarah, other records such as census and birth records for Wells Ward's children all reference his wife as Cenia, Cena, Sena, Cinda, or Lucinda. Marriage record of Wells Ward to anyone of this name was not found. It is believed that Sarah and Lucinda are the same person and perhaps her full name was Sarah Lucinda Preston Ward.
