Retired miner Everett Castle, 86, died Sunday, May 23, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.He was born May 20, 1913 in Johnson Co., to the late Dock and Minnie Dove Stephens.He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Preston Castle on Jan. 5, 1997; and his stepfather Sam. B. Castle.Surviving are two sons, Bobby R. and James M. Castle, both of Thealka; 4 daughters: Betty Ann Kinner of Thealka, Eloise Dials of Wittensville, Imogene Copley of Ashland and Brenda Owens of Thealka; 2 sisters, Delia Estepp of Thealka and Norma Haney of Paintsville; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.Burial in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Active pallbearers will be David Kinner, Tony Castle, Shand Castle, Matthew Owens, E. J. Owens, Paul Michael Castle and Christopher Castle.Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Blair, Lonnie Blair, George Conley, Buster Taylor, Clarence Ratliff, Merril Preston, Paul Daniel, Dakota Castle, Jr., and Bob Wells.

Mrs. Copley was born July 29, 1940, in Paintsville, a daughter of the late Everett and Dorothy Preston Castle.She was a receptionist in a doctor's office and a member of 13th Street Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Earl Copley; three stepdaughters, Vickie Arthur and Glenda Copley, both ofAshland, and Shelia Ours of Huntington, WV; two brothers, Michael Castle and Bobby R. Harvey Jay Preston, age 84, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2003 at his residence.He was born in WV to the late Frank and Dora Preston.He grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky and graduated from Paintsville High School where he lettered in football and was active in other sports.He served his country in the United States Navy during WW II and was on the USS Wasp when it was sank, he was rescued and was later aboard the USS Lexington which was also hit by enemy fire.He is retired from Capital City Products with 37 years service.He was a member of Columbus First Free Will Baptist Church.He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 495.He was recently bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel by the Honorable Paul E. Patton, Governor of Kentucky.Preceded in deathby sister Dorthy Castle and brother Mitchel Preston.Survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred, who has been his loving companion and care giver for the past several years; two daughters, Karen [David] Detrow of Gallaway and Donna [Henry] Sylvia of Sierra Vista, AZ; two granddaughters, Elizabeth [Jeromy] Titus and Vicky [John] Brantly; one great-grandson, Joshua Titus; five sisters, Dixie Charles, Goldie Combs, Amanda Keeler, Ellen [Delmos] Sargent, and Emily Sparks; three brothers, Paul [Hilda] Preston, Jarvey [Ursula] Preston, and Ernest [Ruth] Preston; Many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the O.
