Mrs. Constance Missimer 915 Via Fruteria Santa Barbara, CA 93110-2321 Dear Mrs. Missime r, Thank you for your letter of 26 May. I will be glad to comply with your preferen ce about the Missimer data, and am sorry if I caused you any discomfort about it. My let ter may have been slightly misleading to you, as I did not mean to imply that I would send co pies of the material you sent me to the Mormon Library. When I find new references for my fa mily lines, I catalog them in the computer, and periodically send updates to Personal Ancestr al File, so that others searching on the same lines can also be aware of the same references . But, I don't send any materials along. In my own family, and in my wife's Wingfield f amily, I usually find that when anyone gives me a source reference, etc., they want to be men tioned not just once, but twice, in each paragraph as the source for the material! <I am "w orld-wide" Genealogist for the Wingfield family.> So, it is a refreshing breath of fresh ai r that you do not want to be mentioned even once as the source for your very excellent data . As Registrar for SAR Thomas Jefferson Chapter, I will be more than happy to try to rec iprocate your kindness in sharing your Missimer information with me. Please let me know anyt ime I can be of any help. And when you visit Bill I would be pleased to meet and thank you i n person. Sincerely, <Copy to Bill> @ (Ph. 510 932 -9522; 464-6923 (BART)) Mr. William Missimer 766 Hamilton Drive Pleasant Hill, CA Dear Bill , It was really a pleasure to walk into the dining room at the last Sons of the America n Revolution luncheon and have my eyes immediately focus on the name MISSIMER. I have neve r met a LIVE one before! Thanks for the offer to share family info. I will appreciate a nything your mother might be able to add to the mystery we have been encountering -- who wer e the parents of Polly Missimer who married George Frazier in Greene Co TN on 30 Dec 1807 ? I immediately got busy and tried to put all my unreadable Missimer notes into my PAF p rogram, hoping that would make it easier for your mother to see what info I already have on t he Missimer family. I can share this on PAF disk, but haven't been able to cut out onl y small sections, i.e., Missimer, from the rest of my PAF data. My computer apparently doesn 't have enuf ROM (760 MB). Looking forward to further discussions. I wasn't sure yo ur friend had given you an SAR Worksheet. If not, the one enclosed can be used for any SAR c hapter, should you be interested in joining his chapter, or ours . Sincerely,

!QUESTION: Who is father of Mary/Polly <Missimer> Frazier? .
My original conclusion was wrong that she was dau. of Michael Missimer who died Greene Co T N ca 1797, as Michael and Mary <___> Missimer had a dau. named Mary/Polly Missimer. However , in 1850, Michael's dau. was still listed as Mary/Polly Missimer, not Mary/Polly Frazier.
Of the Missimer names who were listed in Northampton Co PA 1790 U.S. Census, p 172 (Michel, F rance, Jacob, George), two of them, Michael and Jacob, appear about 1795 in Greene Co TN, alo ng with other Northampton Co PA names, including Cable/Cobble, Lince/Lintz, Laughenore/Lauchn er.
NSDAR #646676, Elizabeth Evans Banmiller, is on another Jacob Missimer (1757-1812) who marrie d Maria Magdalena Yost, and whose residence and death were in Montgomery Co PA. Children o f this Jacob Missimer were:
Susanna born 13 May 1789
Elizabeth 16 Feb 1791 Married Samuel Rodermell
Solomon 18 May 1793 Maria March
Hannah 6 Oct 1795
Sarah 7 Mar 1799
Jacob 11 Jul 1801 Elizabeth Yorgy
Maria 24 Apr 1804
Relationship of this Jacob Missimer to the Missimers of Northampton Co PA and those who move d on to Greene Co TN is not known.
NSDAR #613122, on Jacob Missimer who died in TN before 1810, submitted by Jeraldyne Beets Cli pson, gives this Jacob Missimer's wife as Catherine Mauck, and lists children, Jacob, Jr., Mi chael, William, Catherine (m. Jacob Harmon), John (m. Mary Lentz), Henry (m. Susanna Bible) , Nicholas, Betsy (m. Robert Smilie), Peter (m. Nancy Fellers),Barbara (m. Joseph Isaac Kirk) , Mathena Jane/Jenny (m. William Hartley).
My own conclusions disagree with Mrs. Clipson's list: My research shows that Catherine (m. J acob Harmon) was a dau. of Michael Missimer; Barbara (m. Joseph Kirk) was also a dau. of Mich ael Missimer. Henry Missimer (m. Susanna Bible) was also, I believe, the son of Michael Miss imer, not of Jacob, Sr. I doubt that Peter Missimer (m. Nancy Fellers) was a son of Jacob Mi ssimer, Sr. It appears likely to me that he was the son of John Missimer, and therefore a gr andson of Jacob, Sr.
I have not been able to determine whether Michael Missimer was actually a son of Jacob Missim er, Sr., or whether they may have been brothers. Both were in the 1790 Northampton Co PA cen sus, and I wonder if they were brothers, both. possibly sons of Peter Missimer, Sr., of North ampton Co PA.
I assign the following children to the various early Missimers of Greene Co TN: .
Jacob and Mary (Mauck) Missimer, Sr. (Jacob, Sr., died before 1810):
Jacob, Jr., who died unmarried about 1814 and left everything to his
brother, John Missimer.
William, whose property was confiscated about 1811 and was not recorded
after that date in Greene Co TN; apparently moved to
Knox Co TN. His property was forfeited as a debt somehow
involving Jacob Missimer, which I conclude was his brother,
both William and Jacob, Jr., being sons of Jacob, Sr.
John, m. Mary Lentz and died about 1817; children shown later herein.
Betsy, m. Robert Smilie
Mathena Jane/Jenny m. William Hartley
-- Michael (d.1797), was he son or brother of Jacob Missimer, Sr.?
-- Nicholas -- no further info.
The above list of possible children of Jacob Missimer, Sr., is arrived at by deduction and co nclusion, as there was no will or property division in Greene Co TN which named his heirs.
Michael Missimer (d.1797) and Mary (___), his wife -- their heirs are named in Greene Co TN P robate Record, 29 Sep 1806, p 27; also in Greene Co TN DB 24, p 239 (Jacob Missimer to John H armon, interest in 300 acres, 21 Jan 1850), and in several other land transaction records o f Greene Co TN:
Polly (unmarried in 1850)
Jacob (alive in 1850; name of wife, if any, is unknown.)
Henry (m. Susannah Bible)
Barbara (m. Joseph Kirk)
Catherine (m. Jacob Harmon)
Susannah (m. Peter Kinser)
Eve (m. Valentine Catron)
Marriages are from TENNESSEE MARRIAGE RECORDS, Vol. 3, Greene Co., Vol. I, 1783-1818, by Poll yanna Creekmore.
Jacob Misemer's will 5 Jan 1814; 6 Jul 1814, "to my beloved friend and brother, John Misemer, " (FHL Film #464111), Greene Co TN Will Book 1828-1854, pp 64 and 293. Wit. Joseph Smelser , Ruthy Scot.
John Missimer (d.1817) and Mary (Lintz), his wife -- their heirs are named in Greene Co TN Wi ll Book 1828-1854 (FHL Film #464111), pp 82 and 364, 16 Jan 1817, "all to widow to raise chil dren." Wit James Shields, Henry Misemer, Peter Cobble. Children of John and Mary (Lintz) Mi ssimer:
Sally (m. Samuel Smelser)
Catherine (m. Daniel Witt)
Susannah (m. Willis Phegley)
Eliza (not named in John Missimer's will; Eliza m. Nathan/Nathaniel McCoy) .
Marriages are partly taken from Greene Co TN DB 19, p 219, John Messimer (Estate) to Daniel L auchner, 58 acres for $110., on Little Chuckey Creek. This deed was signed at White Co IN (M onticello), 25 Oct 1837, by William Messimore, Samuel Smelser, Willis Phegley, Peter Messimor e, Nathan McCoy; Daniel Witt signed 15 May 1838 at Union Co IN; Deed also had the signature o f Henry Messimore, Greene Co TN, 11 Oct 1838, who undoubtedly was the son of Michael Messimer ., as no Henry Messimer was ever listed as a son of John and Mary (Lintz) Messimer. Henry Me ssimer signed as Witness.
There are only two Missimer females of Greene Co TN for whom I cannot identify a parent: Barb ara Misemer who m. Joseph Smelser in 1817, Bondsman Peter Cobble, who was also Bondsman in 18 24 when Sally Missemer (dau. of John Missimer) m. Samuel Smelser.
The second unidentified Missimer female is my Great-3 Grandmother, Mary/Polly Mismer who m. G eorge Frazier 30 Dec 1807, Bondsmen Samuel Frazier (brother of George Frazier) and Elijah Bil lingsley (apparently on behalf of the bride, Polly Missimer). I have no clue as to the conne ction between Elijah Billingsley and Polly Missimer.
Was Polly Missimer the dau. of Jacob Missimer, Sr., who was still alive on 3 Sep 1807, when h e appeared as Bondsman for Susanna Mismer (dau. of Michael Missimer, deceased) when Susanna m . Peter Kinser? Or, was Polly the dau. of William Missimer, whose land was confiscated aroun d 1811, and who thereafter appeared in Knox Co TN, making his will there after 1830? A cop y of his will has not yet been obtained. ACTION: Get copy of William Missimore's will, Kno x Co TN, WB 5, p 142!!!
