!I was born at the home of my mother's younger sister, Elizabeth Elexena "Leckie" <Camp> Irel and, Mrs. Charles R. Ireland, in Chickamauga, Georgia. My name was changed from Warren Watkin s, Jr. (which is the way it appeared on my original birth certificate), also known throughou t my childhood as Warren Le Bron Watkins, to Le Bron Camp PRESTON, in May 1943, in Douglas Co unty Court, Roseburg, Oregon. My name could not technically have been Warren Watkins, Jr., a s my father's middle name was Calvin. In order for me to be "Jr.," my name would need to hav e been Warren Calvin Watkins, Jr. But at no time in my life was my name ever regarded as Calv in. I was always called and known as Le Bron, even though the name Le Bron does not appear an ywhere on my original birth certificate.
!In 1943, at the age of 16, I chose as my legal guardians, my deceased mother's older sister , Pearl Lee <Camp> PRESTON and her husband, Richard Lewis PRESTON, in whose household I live d from Sept. 1941.
!At least twelve of my ancestors are buried at Cedar Grove (Walker), Georgia. At least five m ore of my ancestors are almost certainly also buried somewhere in Walker County, Georgia. !M y Great.Great Grandmother, Martha <Carroll> ANDREWS <B07.03> is buried in Old Antioch (Thurma n) Cemetery on Andrews Road (Walker Co. Heritage, p.186.)
!Eleven of my ancestors, my sister and my maternal step-Great Grandmother <Elexena Evitt> ar e buried in Antioch Church Cemetery on Crow Gap Road. All page numbers are from Walker Co., G A, Heritage 1833-1983:

.Julia Francis WATKINS, my sister (stone beside my mother read "Baby").
.Aaron Carroll WATKINS <A01.08>, my paternal Grandfather, p.166.
.Julia <Edwards> WATKINS <A01.09>, my paternal Grandmother, p.166.
.John Henry EDWARDS <B03.01>, my paternal Great Grandfather, p.166.
.Fannie Rosetta <Roach> EDWARDS <B04.01>, pat. Great Grandmother, p.166.

.Sarah Elizabeth <Payne> ANDREWS <B08.01>, mat. Great Grandmother, p.165.
.My ancestors who are probably also buried in Walker Co., GA, are:
Martha Ann <Honea> EDWARDS <B03.01>, my pat. Great Great Grandmother. Edwards family record s state she died 29 Nov 1915 at the home of her eldest son, my Great Grandfather, John Henr y EDWARDS <B02.01>, who was recorded in the 1910 census at Cedar Grove (Walker), GA. I have r ead a notice in the Walker County Messenger, LaFayette (Walker), GA, Dec 1915, which referre d to the death of "Grandma Edwards" following a fall or broken hip. I do not know where she i s buried.
Elizabeth <Frazier> PAYNE <B08.03>, my maternal Great Great Grandmother.
The last record I have found for my PAYNE Great Great Grandparents is on Page 22, 1870 census , Walker Co., GA, Subdivision 128, Frick's Gap. I have no record of her burial. He is burie d in Scott Co., Arkansas. His age in 1870 was 59; her age was 60.
.William PAYNE <B08.04>, my mat. Great Great Great Grandfather. The last record I have foun d is Page 401, 1850 census, Walker Co., GA, at Peavine. He was age 70 in 1850
.Sarah <___> PAYNE <B08.05>, my mat. Great Great Great Grandmother. The last records I hav e found are: Page 401, 1850 census, Walker Co., GA, at Peavine. She was age 63 in 1850 . I believe she is the Sarah Payne who is listed in the 1870 census, Walker Co., GA, p.99 , Frick's Gap, in the household of John Campbell, even though her age in 1870 was given as 94 , ten years older than her actual age. I don't know what her relation is to the Campbell hou sehold, but on the same page is Artimiza Payne and her children, which is the family of Eli jah Payne, a grandson of my Great Great Great Grandparents, William and Sarah <___> PAYNE.
